Finding jobs in the Middle East

Gulf and Middle East jobs are still readily available in a variety of the countries of the region.  Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dubai, Qatar, Saud-Arabia, and several other neighbouring countries are all seeing a variety of jobs available in many industries.  Here are a few tips for finding jobs in Middle East locations and other Gulf areas.

Exercise care when searching out companies on the internet as some of these job sites are not always what they appear to be.  Search these companies as thoroughly as you can and watch out for the scams.

Be careful when using any employment or recruitment agencies.  Only work with those companies that do not charge you a “finders” fee.  In many cases, the better companies usually pay the agency to find you.

Investigate your own personal connections if any exist.  There is a lot to be said about social networking and you might be pleasantly surprised and get several leads for jobs in Middle East areas.

Make sure that you have prepared an accurate and up-to-date CV or resume.  You might want to consider preparing a generic but professional cover letter as this also improves that first impression employers will have of you.

If you are fluent and skilled in the Arabic language, this will be a big plus in your favor.  Make sure you highlight that fact in your cover letter and on your CV or resume.  If you have a chance to learn Arabic, you might want to consider learning the language.
