Abu Dhabi – the financial hub of the United Arab Emirates

Abu Dhabi is the capital city of the United Arab Emirates and is the second largest city behind Dubai. It is situated on a T-shaped island in the Persian Gulf.  A cosmopolitan mega-city, Abu Dhabi contains offices of the federal government in addition to being the home city for the Emirati Royal Family. It is considered to be a great cultural and commercial centre.

Financial institutions there include Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and central bank of UAE.  Many multi-national corporations are headquartered here. It is thought to be the largest oil producer in the United Arab Emirates.

Rich almost beyond measure, Abu Dhabi is becoming a tourist attraction as well as a hub for business. Even as wealthy as the city is, it is attempting to diversify its financial institutions and avenues.

An expatriate must consider the climate of their new employment city. As one might expect, the climate is hot and arid – this could be uncomfortable for people not used to these conditions. Little rain is expected to fall in any one year; instead the weather is usually sunny. June through to September is hot and humid and temperatures can rise above 35 degrees C. Summer visibility is often limited by sand storms making travel difficult. The weather in November through to March is much cooler than the summer months.

Life out of work includes resorts, clubs, restaurants, exercise facilities and friendly expatriate groups.

Abu Dhabi IT jobs are widely sought after because of the types of banks, financial institutions, and securities businesses in the city. Someone wanting to relocate here would also expect to find jobs in the United Arab Emirates, UAE oil jobs and Gulf jobs.
